Dichtbij onze B&B staat een klein kapelletje. Erg leuk om te bezichtigen, en er staat een kunstwerk bij.

Koolwijk

Koolwijk ligt midden tussen de dorpjes Berghem en Herpen, tegen het bosgebied Herperduin en dichtbij de stad Oss.

De molen

Our B&B is located in the province of North Brabant in the hamlet of Koolwijk (pronounced in the local dialect as kolluk). As one of the centres of the municipality of Oss midway between the villages of Berghem and Herpen and against the forest.

This forest and recreation area, commonly known as Herperduin, is about 400 hectares. The forest is known for its sand dunes and its two lakes, called ‘Klompven’ and ‘Big Ganzenven’. The latter is a source of water for a variety of animals and is a popular skating spot in winter.

Wild

In de bossen loopt veel wild rond. Naast konijnen, herten en eekhoorns lopen er ook Schotse Hooglanders.

In the Forest, there is also a former fire tower built in 1955, which is currently used for bird watching. It stands on a hill 17 metres above sea level (called a ‘bunny hill’), where the tower extends another 22 metres. It is the largest wooden lookout in the Netherlands. The entire area has become part of an ecological corridor in the direction of the Natural Maashorst. Many badgers come to this area and there are herds of sheep, wild horses and Scottish highlanders. These animals graze peacefully among the visitors.

There are a variety of hiking trails for you to discover. The hilly areas in the forest are excellent for mountain bikers, but the forest also has many enjoyable bike paths that lead you to one of the many charming villages in the area. Also nearby is the naturally fortified town of Ravenstein and the beautiful town of Grave.

If you prefer the hustle and bustle of the city, then the cities of Oss, Nijmegen, Eindhoven and ' s-Hertogenbosch, our province’s capital, are easy to reach by car.

Nijmegen

Op de Waalkade in Nijmegen is veel te doen. Voldoende terrassen en eetgelegenheden.

Den Bosch

Deze cathedraal in Den Bosch is leuk om te bezoeken.

Oss

Het centrum van Oss ligt een paar kilometer bij ons vandaan. Hier is ook altijd iets te beleven!
